Whole Lotta Shakin’

Driving home from Portland this afternoon, I pulled out a tape cassette (remember them?) I compiled back in 2006 for a Bar Harbor band I liked called The Shakes. As with almost every good Bar Harbor band, under whatever name, Caleb Davis was involved — this particular quartet also included many of the usual suspects: Caleb’s brother Carl on lead guitar, Beer Guy James of course on bass, and drummer Gage Villere, who’s now in exile out in the real world someplace.

The Shakes are long gone – Caleb performs these days with Coke Weed — but my Shaky Music cassette, assembled out of various LPs in my collection, still sounds pretty good. It provided an enjoyable ride on a sunny day across Route 3 east from Augusta and on up the coast to Mount Desert Island.
