Our friend John — well, his station wagon, really — delivered our kitchen table and chairs in a 5x4x2-foot box this afternoon, so the apartment (finally) is (mostly) furnished. We have been using a card table and three metal folding chairs for the last 7.5 weeks, a bit shaky for dining purposes, while the nice manager of the home furnishings store downtown calls regularly and tells us he has no idea why our table isn’t here yet, or where it’s gone.
Turns out the box came all the way from Vietnam, which is maybe why it took its time getting here. A little label under the seat of all four chairs says P.O. 2456 — Made In Vietnam.
Is that a post office box? Do they only have one p.o. for the entire country?
